The Government of Karnataka launched AI Workforce Impact Study ahead of IT policy 2025 rollout
The Government of Karnataka has officially launched an AI labor force impact study to understand the developed mobility of employment in the time of artificial intelligence. This strategic stage is ahead of the state’s new IT policy 2025 rollout, as the authorities are preparing for computer-supported decisions on labor separation and decisions of technology.
The study conducted by the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and S&T is open to input by June 27, 2025, and seeks participation from many types of stakeholders including industry managers, HR professionals, technology experts and educational institutions.
Future- proof approach to Karnataka’s workforce
According to IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge, the survey will serve as a key input for designing policies under the government’s flagship ‘NIPUNA Karnataka’ skilling initiative. The objective is to understand how artificial intelligence is impacting roles across industries and identify areas where intervention is necessary to protect and enhance employability.
“This is not just a survey—it’s a serious step toward protecting the livelihoods of tomorrow,” said Kharge. “We want Karnataka’s workforce to be at the forefront of the AI-driven economy. This study will provide us with real data to act on.”
Key Focus Areas of the AI Workforce Impact Study
The study is designed to collect empirical data on:
- The extent of AI integration across industry verticals.
- Working is most likely automated.
- Emerging skills requirements in the AI oil industry.
- A-led area with capacity for employment generation
- Best practice for streaking and upskilling
The data will directly inform the revised IT policy, which will help Karnataka maintain its position globally as a top technical destination.

The government’s active approach to starting this study confirms its intentions to build policies prepared for the future that does not leave the workforce as accelerating automation.
The study’s findings will guide:
- Industry skilling strategies
- Education policy updates
- Investments in reskilling infrastructure
- AI innovation incentives balanced with human capital growth

A Blueprint for Responsible AI Adoption
This AI impact study represents more than a policy formality. It’s a blueprint for responsible technology governance, where innovation does not come at the cost of livelihood.
Experts believe that Karnataka’s move could serve as a model for other Indian states, especially as AI adoption increases in sectors such as healthcare, fintech, logistics, education, and retail.
Final Thought
Karnataka’s leadership in launching a structured AI impact assessment ahead of policy implementation sets a national precedent. With participation from the ecosystem, this initiative could lay the foundation for a future where AI growth and human employment co-exist by design, not by chance.
