Summit concentrates on infrastructure, the digital sphere, and inclusive advancement as crucial elements for India’s future
Network18, in partnership with Moneycontrol, News18 India, and CNBC Awaaz, held the Powering Bharat Summit 2025 in New Delhi on Friday, uniting policymakers, industry leaders, and subject-matter experts to formulate a development strategy in line with the Viksit Bharat @2047 vision.
The summit’s focus was on strengthening India’s position as a self-reliant and globally competitive economy by identifying key growth areas, policy hurdles, and innovation prospects. The event occurs during a time when India is accelerating efforts to transition into a developed nation by its 100th anniversary of independence.
Union Ministers Detail Sectoral Priorities
The day-long event included speeches and panel discussions by multiple Union Ministers, who outlined policy directions and strategic priorities across essential sectors:
Giriraj Singh, Minister of Textiles, highlighted the significance of export-driven growth and the role of textile clusters within global supply chains.
C.R. Patil, Minister of Jal Shakti, discussed national water security and the integration of technology for effective water management.
Chirag Paswan, Minister of Food Processing Industries, showcased the potential of Indian cuisine and processed foods in international markets.
Ram Mohan Naidu, Minister of Civil Aviation, spoke about enhancing regional connectivity and modernizing aviation infrastructure.
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of Tourism, concentrated on positioning India as a year-round global tourism destination via sustainable development.
Focus on Infrastructure, Digital Frameworks, and Inclusive Growth
The summit addressed various high-impact sectors including steel, ports, digital infrastructure, shipping, food processing, and tourism. In addition to infrastructure and industrial expansion, special emphasis was placed on the role of women leaders in nation-building, reflecting the government’s focus on inclusive growth.
Sessions also underscored the contribution of Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and autonomous institutions in India’s transformation journey, particularly in infrastructure, energy security, and digital connectivity.
“India’s growth story must be founded on resilience, propelled by innovation, and inclusive in its implementation,” stated a senior official speaking at the event.
Alignment with Viksit Bharat 2047
The summit is part of a larger initiative to mobilize national efforts toward the Viksit Bharat @2047 goal, which envisages India as a developed, inclusive, and sustainable economy by 2047. The Powering Bharat 2025 platform acts as a dialogue space for translating policy vision into practical strategies.
The event builds upon the momentum generated by the Rising Bharat Summit 2025, held in April, which centered on education, mobility, and the aspirations of India’s youth.
Industry Involvement and Strategic Collaborations
The summit brought together a diverse group of stakeholders including policymakers, CEOs, policy think tanks, and digital economy enablers. The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) partnered as a digital infrastructure supporter for the summit.
Organizers stated that the key insights and recommendations from the summit will be compiled into a white paper, which will inform broader policy consultations in the coming months.
