In a historical step towards democratization of the AI innovation, the Telangana government is designed to launch the first state digital public public infrastructure (DPI) for artificial intelligence. The title Telangana Data Exchange (TGDEX) will officially live July 2, 2025.
The initiative is supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and was developed in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Science (IISC) Bengaluru.
What is Tgdex?
TGDEX is a digital platform designed to market AI solutions across domains, enabling beach collaboration:
- State Department
- Private industry
- Research institutions
- AI start -ups and developers
The platform will provide structured access to collaboration equipment and API as well as datasets, AI developers such as health care, agriculture, education, management and more will help create public-anthital applications in areas as more.
According to officials, the stage will prefer to share open and safe data while maintaining strong control over secrecy and compliance.
Important features in Tgdex
Interopble dataset Access: A library of datasets from different departments will be made available to AI developers who are approved.
Developer tools: API and sandbox environment will support model training and testing of real time.
Cross -sector collaboration: Designed to encourage innovation through partnerships in academics, startups and state institutions.
Policy Sandbox: TGDEX AI will also serve as a test for governance and moral overview.
Strategic meaning
This step takes Telangana as a front-colon in India’s AI infrastructure landscape, making a model that other states can soon follow. Eggs, especially in health, water management and agricultural techniques, have been focused on publicly ante AI, which is expected to have high social effects.
The collaboration with Jica also highlights India’s AI -sacred international interest in emergency preparedness, especially in the production of morally, open and scalable AI ecosystem within a federated management model.

TGDEX will originally pilot in some larger departments, including the expansion of a wide range of use cases, including health, urban planning and agriculture. The Telangana government has said it will encourage participation from local AI start -ups, academic researchers and national innovation assignments to maximize the effect.
